“It is a serious thing just to be alive on this fresh morning, in this broken world” - Mary Oliver
It is a serious thing
To reverently look upon
The trees, the fields, the sunset
Breathing in their shapes and colours.
It is a serious thing
To recognise the names of flowers,
To yell the names of birds of prey,
Or dogs, or sheep, or cows
With equal joy and elation
Time after time after time…
It is a serious thing
To be completely unserious, unmasked, unhinged
In several barely comprehensible ways
It is a serious thing
Just to be alive and gloriously broken
In this broken world
With you
